Kids need safe place to skate downtown | Letters, Nov. 26

What a sad commentary on life that there isn’t enough room in the world for kids to skate legally and safely. Yes, as a mother, I would like to see a helmet on the picture of the skater in the Review (Nov. 19, page 1).

Stakeboarding is in the Olympics now. Strawberry Hill Park is three miles away. We just built a beautiful addition to the high school. Would it be too much to ask that we build a safe place for our children to skate that wouldn’t require them irritating the downtown merchants?

How about letting the kids form an advisory board to help plan this safe place. Bainbridge doesn’t offer much for children to do. Maybe it’s time we invest in the future of our children and provide them with some clean, safe activities that use up all that energy.
