Hulet is committed to diversity, inclusion | Letter to the editor

To the editor:

We are writing to support Christina Hulet for the Bainbridge Island School Board.

As current and former managers of Bainbridge Community Broadcasting, we have observed firsthand Christina’s competence, her collaborative nature, her dedication, and her passion for this community. Her podcast interviews with the city manager, the police chief, and various community organizations clearly reflect her commitment to honesty, diversity, equity, inclusion, and open communications — all qualities highly desirable in a school board member.

But Christina is also passionate about children and education. As the parent of two young children she has been absolutely dedicated to working with the school board this past year to ensure that all the island’s children get the support they need to grow into confident, competent and compassionate individuals who contribute positively to our society.

With the board positioned to embark upon a new strategic planning process, Christina’s professional experience working with Harborview and Governor Gregoire to facilitate social change, together with her educational background in public policy and sustainable business practices, will ensure the schools’ teachers and staff also get the professional and financial support they need.

But last, and most importantly, we’ve come to know Christina as a wonderful person — kind, generous, and thoughtful; devoted to her family and always appreciative and supportive of those around her. We would love to see her energy and passion continue to benefit our school board and the children and families they serve.

We’re voting for her, and we hope you will, too!
