To the editor:
The Bainbridge Island chapter of Partners In Health Engage would like to thank everyone who participated in and supported the 2015 Strides in Solidarity fundraising walk.
Together, we were able to raise more than $2,500 to help fight childhood malnutrition in Haiti! Over 100 people walked, volunteered and made donations.
Many in the island business community generously supported this cause. Island Fitness, Churchmouse Yarns & Teas, Island Sports, Eagle Harbor Book Co., Bon Bon Confections, Heart & Soul Studio, Paper Products and Far Away Entertainment donated raffle prizes. J.C. Figueroa brought his Smooth-e truck to the event and donated 20 percent of the proceeds to PIH. Many thanks to Lynn Brofsky for designing the event T-shirts, to Sundance Rogers for volunteering to be our on-site doctor, and to the wonderful folks at Island Fitness for proving display space and coordinating registration.
Partners in Health’s mission is to provide a preferential option for the poor in health care. By establishing long-term relationships with sister organizations based in settings of poverty, Partners In Health strives to achieve two overreaching goals: to bring the benefits of modern medical science to those most in need of them and to serve as an antidote to despair.
We are all united by our belief in health as a human right, and invite you to join us in this movement. See you at the Grand Old Fourth!
