Charge a small fee then leave them alone | Letters | Jan. 1

I’ve owned a cottage with waterfront on Vashon in the 1960s. Lived on Bainbridge for 23 years. I’m an active boater and often thought of living aboard, away from a marina. For the last 10 years I’ve had my boat at Shilshole and I’ve been very happy with it except for the new rules and high costs. But that is my choice.

I think anyone that wants to setup a buoy and row to shore shouldn’t be fined to be there. As long as they pump out their boat at a free state pump-out site. In Alaska, you can get a state permit for a float home for next to nothing. I think here in Washington we are a bit crazy in this way!
