To the editor:

Thank you for telling the story (“Hidden Cove Dock to be replaced; funding sought,” July 24) about the effort to save the dock at Hidden Cove Park.

The Class of 2016 at BHS is raising money to help replace the dock as the first ever (as far as we know) Senior Class Philanthropy project at BHS. A lead team of ASB officers and class leaders are working with the Bainbridge Island Parks Foundation, and engaging our classmates. Together we aim to raise $20,000 to help replace this popular dock.

This is the only public swimming float on the island, and a favorite summer spot for people of all ages. We want to leave this Island a class legacy. We also want to make huge progress before school starts (those college applications are looming). We love this dock and love our island and want to make an impact before we graduate to other endeavors.

We invite islanders to join the Class of 2016: Please donate today to www.biparksfoundation.org and help us reach our goal. Once successful, we will earn an amazing anonymous match to bring a total of $40k to a new improved public dock at Hidden Cove!
