To the editor:

I am writing regarding the current public debate over the park district purchase of the Sakai property next door to St. Cecilia church.

Today, Sunday, I just hung up my phone from a robo phone call from the side opposed to the purchase. I find their tactics to be beyond absurd. Suggesting this piece of property has risky environmental issues is just beyond any rational conversation. I think the fact the opponents are using such absurd tactics amplifies their inability to build a case against the purchase.

Whatever is developed on this property will impact the Island 100 years from now. The safe move and the move that has the best chance for our grandchildren to look back and say this was a good choice is the park district purchasing the land. The opposite use can only be what we are witnessing across the highway.
