Auditions coming for ‘Drowsy Chaperone’

Bainbridge Performing Arts will host auditions on Tuesday, Feb. 17 and Wednesday, Feb. 18 for “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.

Bainbridge Performing Arts will host auditions on Tuesday, Feb. 17 and Wednesday, Feb. 18 for “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.

BPA is seeking five lead women, eight lead men, and an ensemble of four to six adult and teen performers. All roles are open to audition. A detailed character breakdown is available online.

Those auditioning should prepare a 1- to 2-minute monologue and 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre piece. An accompanist will be provided, but those auditioning must bring sheet music — clearly marked and in a three-ring binder. Please, no outside accompanists or acapella singing. Callbacks (by invitation) will be held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21.

Rehearsals will be held from March 9 through May 6. The show will run from May 8 to May 24 with a special Pay-What-You-Can preview event on May 7.
