The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art’s mid-career survey of artist Richard Jesse Watson, “Inner Zoo, Outer Orbit,” will remain open for viewing until Sunday, Jan. 5.
Watson has been a nationally acclaimed children’s book illustrator and author since 1985. His version of “The Night Before Christmas” made the New York Times Bestseller List and his “Tom Thumb” won the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Golden Kite Award. His works have been chosen for numerous juried exhibitions, and his paintings are in private collections around the world.
The exhibit showcases more than 50 completed works by Watson, including illustrations, paintings and sculpture. Also included are sculptures made from found objects and recycled materials.
BIMA first opened to the public on June 14, 2013 and has since welcomed more than 31,000 visitors.
The museum is a collecting museum with a focus on artists and collections from the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas, as well as the broader Puget Sound region.
