Basketball: Spartan girls clinch Sound Division title

The Bainbridge girls claimed the Sound Division title with a 58-42 victory over Rainier Beach Friday.
Rebecca Sharar scored 18 points and Kasondra Totura had 11.
Micki Johns had seven rebounds and Morgan Moniz dished out nine assists.
The Spartans (6-7 in the Metro, 8-10 overall) will be a top four seed in the Metro League playoffs, and have a first-round bye.
Bainbridge will play the Metro’s second-seeded team at 7 p.m. Feb. 17.
The Spartans will celebrate Senior Day at their last home game against West Seattle Tuesday. The team will conclude regular-season play against Chief Sealth at 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Boys basketball
The Spartans lost to second-ranked Rainier Beach 71-41 Friday.
Ryan Burris scored 10 first-quarter points and finished with 18. Will DiIorio had seven points and eight rebounds.
The Spartans, who were 16-30 from the free throw line, trailed by 13 at the half.
Bainbridge (8-5 in the Metro, 11-6 overall) finishes its regular-season schedule with Sound Division opponents West Seattle on Feb. 9 (5-7 in the Metro, 7-9 overall) and Chief Sealth (10-2 in the Metro, 11-6 overall) on Feb. 11.
