All women are invited to attend Savvy Women Exchanging Relevant Views to learn more about “the little fort at Bean Point,” Fort Ward, and the latest efforts to conserve this serving of history.

SWERV meets at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Filipino American Hall.

Local resident Christina Doherty, IslandWood community education coordinator, is happy to share its story, from remote Coast Artillery outpost to top-secret Navy radio station, but especially the latest chapter of how the Friends of Fort Ward are preserving the legacy, particularly the World War I bakery that will become Fort Ward Hall.
