Bainbridge man jailed for assault

A 34-year-old Bainbridge Island man was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend in the parking lot of the Goodwill in Silverdale in May.

Police booked the man into Kitsap County Jail the morning of July 4, and bail was set at $10,000.

Authorities have been looking for the man since May 24, when a person driving through the parking lot of the Goodwill store reported seeing a man punching a woman in a 2004 Ford Mustang. When the witness turned around and went back to check on the woman, she was no longer in the car but was standing alone in the parking lot and the Mustang was gone.

When police arrived, the woman said she and her boyfriend were at the Fred Meyer in Bremerton when she got a message from her friends at the Goodwill who wanted a ride.

On the way there, the woman said she thought she had discovered fraudulent activity on her bank account and asked her boyfriend to call the bank while she was driving.

She told police her boyfriend began to “freak out” and started screaming at her. He then allegedly threatened to “mess up her face” and beat her up.

The woman said she was punched in the stomach, which knocked the wind out of her, causing her to slam on the brakes.

She said her boyfriend continued to yell at her, then threw her SamSung tablet into the parking lot, breaking it. He then drove away and threw out her cell phone.

The boyfriend was subsequently charged with fourth-degree assault in Kitsap County District Court.
