Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.
FRIDAY, MAY 26
3:30 a.m. A 38-year-old Bainbridge Island woman was arrested for driving under the influence.
Police noted the woman, driving a maroon Ford pickup truck, speeding on Wyatt Way near Eakin Road, and followed, monitoring her driving. The woman made a very wide turn and nearly left the road at Eagle Harbor Drive, regularly crossing the fog line and driving onto the shoulder as well. Upon police activating the siren, the woman drove on, seemingly ignoring them. She eventually stopped in a gravel parking lot between Bucklin Hill Road and Point White Drive.
The woman claimed she’d had one drink, but later changed her story and admitted she’d had three beers.
She performed poorly on the field sobriety test and blew a .20 on the breath test. Upon arrest, her blood alcohol content was found to be .205.
1:39 p.m. A Petersen Hill Road resident filed a report with police requesting additional traffic monitoring in the area, as speeding there was getting particularly bad, she said, especially during peak commuter hours.
SATURDAY, MAY 27
5:11 p.m. An 81-year-old Bainbridge woman reported her wallet had been lost or stolen sometime the day before. The woman insisted she had the wallet in her possession that day, in her purse, and she either dropped it or it was stolen while she was visiting a business on Miller Road.
She did not realize it was gone until she went to the grocery store and it was not in her purse. She had not yet checked her account activity, but agreed to call 911 if there had been any fraudulent charges made.
Also inside her wallet, in addition to several bank and credit cards, the woman said, was her Social Security card and military ID. She did not know any of the card or account numbers when she came to make the report.
