Spartans upend Ingraham in softball

SEATTLE – The Bainbridge Spartans unloaded on Ingraham in girls varsity fastpitch softball, battering the Rams 11-1 in a Metro League matchup Friday.

Bainbridge took a 1-0 lead in the first after Olivia Wikstrom connected for a triple and Sara Colley singled her home.

The Spartans extended the lead to 3-0 in the second. Olivia Ditmore walked, then advanced to third on a passed ball and a ground out, then scored on a wild pitch. Abigail Sullivan reached second on an error and a stolen base, then scored on a double by Wikstrom.

The lead increased to 4-0 in the third on a single by Jenna Tabisola, a sacrifice bunt by Ditmore and an RBI single by Tiana Rabang.

Ingraham responded with a run in the bottom of the third on a walk, a ground out, a stolen base and a wild pitch.

Bainbridge broke the game open in the fourth when singles by Malia Peato, Colley, and Kensey Baker load the bases for Tabisola, who delivered a bases-clearing triple to right center field to make the score 7-1.

Bainbridge added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings to close out the scoring.

Colley picked up her second win on the mound (2-1) and pitched five innings. She gave up four hits and had eight strikeouts.

Georgia Wood made her first appearance in the circle for the Spartans, pitching two shut-out innings to close out the game. While she walked three, she struck out two and did not give up a hit.

Tabisola was perfect at the plate for BHS. She went 4-for-4, with a triple, double, four RBIs and a run.

Colley was also impressive, with 4-for-4 batting for two RBIs and two runs.

Wikstrom was 2-for-2 with a triple, double, RBI and run.

Maddie Loverich finished 2-for-5, with a triple, double, RBI and run.
