Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

SUNDAY, DEC. 4

8:45 p.m. A 50-year-old Bainbridge Island man called police to his Lynwood Center Road residence to report a mysterious pair of tan cargo pants.

The man said he was in the process of moving and he discovered the pants on his couch while packing. The slacks definitely, he said, did not belong to him.

A friend had been in the home earlier, but said the trousers did not belong to him either.

The home had been locked and nothing was missing. The man said he was “flabbergasted” as to how the pants could have ended up on his couch and asked police to take the pants with them. They did.

Nothing was found in the pockets to help identify the owner, and the mystery pants were entered into evidence pending further developments.

9:22 p.m. A prowler was reported at a private residence near Nakata Place. A homeowner called police to report that she and her husband had been awakened by a bright light shining in their bedroom window.

They found a man in the backyard with a flashlight. He moved toward the rear door of the house and shined his light in again. When her husband yelled at him, the woman said, the prowler ran off. A search of the area revealed no evidence, and a man walking his dog nearby told police he’d seen nothing.

SATURDAY, DEC. 3

6 p.m. Police were called to a Winslow eatery where a male customer was intoxicated, crying and acting hysterically.

Police arrived and the manager pointed out the customer. The officer recognized the man from previous interactions and, upon running a check on the man’s name, discovered he had a pending felony warrant.

The man was arrested.
