The Washington State Patrol SWAT team will be conducting a training exercise at Washington State Ferry’s Eagle Harbor Maintenance Facility on Bainbridge Island this week. The training will be conducted 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
Members of the Washington State Patrol SWAT team will be working with other law enforcement partners in vessel familiarization and tactical maneuvers.
Troopers assigned to the Washington State Patrol SWAT team often conduct joint training exercises with other special response teams. In a real life response, or call out, law enforcement agencies frequently respond together to bring a peaceful resolution to a crisis. This training exercise will allow separate teams to respond in unison to proficiently handle a maritime threat.
All training will be contained inside the maintenance facility. During the training sumunation ammo will be used. Muffled “pop” sounds may heard by nearby residences.
