Spartans defeat Rams in season opener

The Bainbridge boys basketball team got the 2006-07 season off on the right note as they defeated Ingraham 64-48 Friday night at Paski Gymnasium.

The Spartans started off with a 9-0 run and led 15-2 after the first quarter, as the Rams struggled against the height advantage by their opponents.

The lead grew to 26-3 before Ingraham finally hit a three pointer with 2:36 left in the half.

Ingraham went on a bit of a run in the second half, but Coby Gibler hit three straight jump shots to end the run and put Bainbridge up by 26 at the end of the third quarter.

Gray finished with 17 points, while Gibler led all scorers with 24 points, 17 of which came in the second half. He also had four blocks.

Bainbridge (1-0, 1-0) plays at Nathan Hale on Tuesday, then return home to face West Seattle Friday at 6:15 p.m.
