Bainbridge Island nature photographer Steven Fey’s downtown Winslow gallery will host representatives from Washington Wild, a conservation group to which he often donates the use of his images, during the December Art Walk event Friday, Dec. 5.

“Representatives from Washington Wild will be here and have a table set up to talk about the ‘Wild Olympics’ proposal, the bill before Congress sponsored by Sen. Murray and Congressman Kilmer to expand protection for lands and streams surrounding Olympic National Park,” Fey explained.

“The proposal is still a bit under the radar here locally, so we are hoping to have a good turnout and educate our visitors that night so they can decide how they feel about the proposal,” he said.

Washington Wild protects and restores wild lands and waters throughout Washington state through advocacy, education and civic engagement. First founded in 1979, it is a nonprofit organization that brings concerned people together in the defense and preservation of our state’s remaining wild forests, waters and wildlife. The group originally became widely known in 1984 when it effectively raised the public awareness and support necessary to pass the Washington Wilderness Act, which protected more than 1 million acres of natural wilderness.
