The city of Bainbridge Island is looking for six volunteers from the community who are willing to serve on committees to draft “pro” and “con” statements for the upcoming $15 million ballot request to fund Bainbridge’s new proposed public safety facility.
The language that is drafted will be included in the voters’ guide prepared by the Kitsap County Auditor.
Up to six individuals, a maximum of three per committee, will be appointed by the city council. The committee will be asked to write a 250 word/five paragraph statement either for or against the initiative.
People interested in applying to serve on either the Pro or Con Committee can apply by visiting http://www.bainbridgewa.gov/222/Citizen-Advisory-Groups.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
Members of the Committee will work with each other to appoint a chairperson and draft a statement to provide to the Kitsap County Auditor by Aug. 25.
The committees’ statements will be distributed to registered voters as part of the voter pamphlet provided by the Kitsap County Auditor in advance of the Nov.3 General Election.
City officials noted that beyond their initial formation, each committee will complete its duties independent of city staff or elected officials.
For more information on serving on the Pro or Con Committee visit the city website or contact City Clerk Roz Lassoff at 206-780-8624 or rlassoff@bainbridgewa.gov.
