Spartans win in barnburner debut for new hoops coach

The Bainbridge High boys varsity basketball team shot out in front and maintained the lead for nearly the entire debut game of the season Monday against the visitors from North Kitsap High.

The final score was 49-47, with the Spartans posting the victory in their inaugural outing.

It was the team’s first game of the season, as well as the first under Spartan Head Coach Steve Haizlip.

Haizlip took over this season at the helm of the Bainbridge squad after former coach Scott Orness left to take the coaching job at North Kitsap.
