So the Ruth Moody show is sold-out and maybe you’re sad. But cheer up. There’s enough good music to go around.
Friday, it’s a costume party of sorts: Electro swing band Good Co is bringing back the flapper with live brass and beats. They’re joined by psychedelic rockers General Mojo’s for an 8 p.m. Space Craft show.
Less into that Prohibition-era? Hang out at Treehouse, where American roots rockers Balto play at 8 p.m. for a suggested donation.
Saturday night, Ron Artis II and Thunderstorm, two brothers out of Hawaii, melt hearts with their soulful melodies. Kapali Long, a fellow islander with a Jack Johnson/John Mayer feel, opens at 8.
Suzanne Maurice Wine Bar celebrates the return of Paella Night, with live music from the Cuban Heels Trio and – of course – fabulous varietals. Feasting begins at 7 p.m. with $16 for a bowl of the Spanish rice dish.
Dayaalu Yoga Center presents “The Sound Flow Experience” from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The $50 workshop is three-part: In the first hour, tabla player Ty Burhoe helps patrons to see the world through musical eyes. He provides musical accompaniment with Jon Crane and Steve Oda as Jeny Rae leads a gentle hour of yoga in the second. “Sound Bath,” the final stage of the morning meditation, transports participants into the natural world, as they absorb the sounds of the rainforest. Advance registration is recommended.
Non-yogis can still sample the group’s sonic offerings at the “Music of India” concert at Grace Episcopal later that evening. Tickets, $15 in advance, are available at Willow Tree Market or at the door for $20.
Finally, your Disney singalong continues this week with the BPA production of “Little Mermaid,” 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
