According to the International City/County Management Association, the city of Bainbridge Island cares.

Bainbridge was given the Voice of the People Award in community engagement and natural environment this week.

“It’s an honor to have Bainbridge Island recognized nationally for community engagement and our community’s commitment to the natural environment,” said City Manager Doug Schulze.

The award is based on responses gathered from The National Citizen Survey.

The questionnaire is distributed to residents every year to collect citizen opinion on various local government services.

Out of all the jurisdictions participating in the survey, Bainbridge residents reported the highest levels of satisfaction in community engagement and natural environment.

The Voice of the People Awards are presented by the International City/County Management Association and the National Research Center, Inc.

The highest quality city services are recognized by the citizens themselves in community engagement, safety, mobility, foundations of livability, recreation and wellness, education and enrichment, natural environment, built environment and economy.

“This award would not have been possible without the thousands of dedicated Bainbridge Island residents that work tirelessly to give back to their community and to protect the natural beauty of the island,” Schulze said.
