BHS brought down 51-24 by NH wrestlers

The Bainbridge High varsity wrestling team suffered their first loss at home Thursday, Dec. 18 against the visiting squad from Nathan Hale.

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High varsity wrestling team suffered their first loss at home Thursday, Dec. 18 against the visiting squad from Nathan Hale.

The final score was 51-24, with the Raiders on top.

The Raiders claimed two early wins by forfeit in the 106- and 113-pound classes.

Then, in the 120-pound match, Bainbridge’s Jordan Jackson was pinned by Hale’s Martin Chavez in 19 seconds.

In the 126-pound class, the Raiders were again victorious as Zaib Nasir pinned Cade Topham in 4:55.

Gregg Williams scored the first Spartan win of the night in the 138-pound match, pinning Charlie MacIntire in 1:49.

NH won the 145-pound class by forfeit.

Hague Bush returned the favor and scored the second Spartan win, by forfeit, in the 152-pound match.

Nathan Hale’s Chris Moore won the 160-pound match in a 4-2 overtime decision against Aaron Jumpa.

Then, in the 170-pound match, Joaquin Gurza pinned NH’s Gunner Welsh in only 25 seconds.

The older of the Bainbridge Topham brothers, Liam, claimed a victory by forfeit in the 182-pound class.

A double forfeit negated the 195-pound class, and NH claimed wins through forfeit in both the 220- and 285-pound classes.
