Bainbridge boys bested by Sealth

BAINBRIDGE – The Roosevelt Rough Riders sailed home with a decisive 48-21 win over the Bainbridge High varsity wrestling squad Tuesday night. The visitors claimed eight wins in 14 matches, five by forfeit. Bainbridge claimed forfeit wins in the 113- and 126-pound brackets.

Double forfeits marked two weight classes, 120- and 160-pounds.

Roosevelt’s Tony Chen pinned Rachel Longridge in 1:20 to lock up the 106-pound bracket in the first match of the meet, and Erik Choi likewise pinned Bainbridge’s Clay Wren in 1:45 for a win in the 152-pound match.

Spartan co-captain Aaron Jumpa won a 4-3 decision over Rory Hayashi for the first BHS win of the night, in the 170-pound match, and fellow co-captain Hague Bush was awarded an injury deference over Roosevelt’s Asher Charleston in the 182-pound bought.

In the heavyweight match of the night, Jared Gray found himself pinned by Roosevelt’s Nate Forst in 50 seconds.

The Spartans are slated to wrestle at home again at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28 against an as yet to be determined opponent.
