Madison Avenue to be closed down to one lane starting Aug. 4

Traffic on Madison Avenue will be shut down to one lane for a street improvement project starting Monday, Aug. 4.

The $553,009 street reconstruction project will stretch from High School Road to Winslow Way, and the work will run through Friday, Sept. 19.

City officials said one lane of Madison Avenue will stay open for most of the project, and drivers should expect delays.

Local access to homes and businesses will still be allowed, but the city is encouraging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The improvements on Madison Avenue will address current pavement issues, according to the city, and will restore the road to good condition.

Work being completed will include excavation, asphalting, an overlay and pavement marking. Additionally, stormwater improvements and replacement of the curb ramps are planned at the Wyatt Way and Madison Avenue intersection.
