Bainbridge kept a short leash on the Bulldogs as the Spartans outscored Garfield in the first half 13-4 in girls lacrosse last week at Spartan Stadium.

The Spartans jumped in front early, and led 7-4 with 16 minutes to play before the intermission. Bainbridge kept the Bulldogs scoreless in the final two quarters and coasted to an 18-4 victory.

Three-time all-state goalie Maddy Stevenson returned to goal for Bainbridge in the first half and the senior finished with three saves.

Junior McKenzie Scott was in goal for Bainbridge the second half, and the Bulldogs were kept on the Spartan side of the field and had no shots on goal.

Bainbridge enjoyed a very balanced attack from its young offense. Sophomore Truman Flynn had five goals and an assist, and freshman Amy Willerford nailed the net for four goals. Willerford also added an assist.

Sophomore Kyra Wortley (three goals, one assist), freshman Sonia Olson (three goals) and sophomore Paige Brigham (one goal, two assists) all contributing to the Spartan win.

Garfield was paced by Annie Zwaschka’s three goals and one assist.

Kailee Dorland was in goal for the Bulldogs and stopped three shots.
