Girls Soccer
Bainbridge junior Veronica Saez visited Chile over spring break and tried out for the Chilean U-17 girls soccer team. Saez made the team and is leaving Saturday for Santiago.
Saez will compete in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in September in Trinidad-Tobago.
Baseball
Rion Ramirez earned the win for the Spartans as Bainbridge defeated Lakeside 17-6 Wednesday.
Bainbridge knocked in seven runs in the top of the ninth, with 21 hits on the game.
The team hosts Lakeside at 4 p.m. Friday and will take on Central Kitsap at 12 p.m. Saturday.
Boys lacrosse
Bainbridge extended its league win streak to four with victories over Puyallup, King’s Way and Tacoma.
Bainbridge (5-1) defeated Puyallup 11-10 King’s Way 9-7 last week, and Tacoma 17-6 Tuesday.
Boys Soccer
Bainbridge defeated Eastside Catholic 3-0 Tuesday. The third-ranked Spartans had goals from: Connor Winship (assist Will Devereaux), Alex Raquer (assist Charlie Von Reis) and Alex Raquer (assist Michael Crowley).
Bainbridge (6-0-1) will play four matches next week, three of which are on the road.
Diving Club
The Bainbridge Island Diving Club competed in the British Columbia Winter Provincial Diving Championships.
Kittie Cooper earned a fifth-place ribbon in the girls 14-15 age group three-meter springboard competition with a score of 171.05. Shannon Engelbrecht followed up with a ninth-place score of 257.60 on the one-meter and earned a fourth-place ribbon on three-meter with a score of 283.95.
Cammy Rouser placed fourth in the girls 10-11 age group on one-meter (151.55) and won a bronze medal on three-meter (176.50).
The team is now in midseason and training for the Summer Championships.
Club Gymnastics
The Bainbridge Island Club Gymnastics boys team competed in the men’s Region Two Gymnastics Championships in Portland April 10-11. The top competitors from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana participated in the meet.
Level-five gymnast Cole Lewis placed 10th out of 76 gymnasts in the all-around competition, finishing ninth on parallel bars, 11th on floor and 12th on rings.
Henry Brown placed ninth on high bar and earned a medal on parallel bars. In the 12-and-up age group, Eric Powell placed seventh out of 20 gymnasts. Powell finished fourth on floor and sixth on parallel bars.
Nathaniel Opalski, a level-seven gymnast, placed fourth on parallel bars and sixth on vault, finishing 13th in the all-around competition.
On the level nine team, Bryan Peterson placed second in the all-around with a first-place finish on parallel bars and second-place finishes on floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar.
Tim Forro placed first on floor and third on high bar.
