Bainbridge blotter | Shady home sale attempt blamed on tough divorce

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

FRIDAY, APRIL 22

9:09 a.m. A bus driver said a black compact SUV had passed the bus on the driver’s side while the bus had its stop paddle out and the red lights were flashing near Wyatt Way. Police tracked down the driver and spoke with a 59-year-old Bainbridge woman.

The woman admitted she had passed the bus, but she said she didn’t realize the paddle was out. She was very apologetic and embarrassed, and agreed to come to the police station to get her ticket.

9:10 a.m. A 40-year-old Poulsbo man was cited via the mail for stopping a school bus on Northeast Hidden Cove Road.

A bus driver said that on April 15 at 7:22 a.m. a blue sedan passed the bus on the driver’s side when the bus was stopped with its paddle deployed and the red lights flashing.

Police contacted the owner of the vehicle and checked with his employer, a painting company, that said he had the vehicle that morning for a job nearby on Euclid Avenue.

Police found the man had different Social Security numbers for his Washington license plate and his Nevada driver’s license; both numbers belonged to other people.

Police made several attempts to contacted the man, as did his employer, without success.
