The Bainbridge Island City Council approved an ordinance last week that will reinstate annual leases for current tenants of Eagle Harbor’s Open Water Marina.
The ordinance also grants the city manager to issue subleases to Open Water Marina tenants.
Implemented in 2011, the city operates a 100 percent residential Open Water Marina in Eagle Harbor under a lease with the state Department of Natural Resources.
Currently the marina includes eight tenants, and approval by the state Department of Ecology permits up to 16 tenants.
The council’s vote to approve the ordinance will continue the city’s 100 percent residential Open Water Marina and offer space for potential new tenants.
