BI man arrested for attempted sexual encounter with ‘decoy’ child

On Dec. 17, the Bremerton Police General Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the Bremerton Police Directed Enforcement Team, and the Kitsap County Interagency SWAT Team, arrested a 44-year-old Bainbridge Island man after he arrived in Bremerton to pick up what he thought was an 11-year-old female child to have intimate relations with them, per the Bremerton Police Department.

The investigation was initiated by NCIS and was turned over to BPD when it was discovered that the man was using a social media application to chat with someone he believed to be an 11-year-old female. The chat turned graphic in nature, and over the course of numerous chats, the man agreed to meet the “child” in Bremerton, per BPD.

The man was surveilled, and it was discovered he had stopped at a Silverdale hotel on his way to Bremerton. When the man arrived in Bremerton at the appointed time and location, he was arrested. A subsequent search warrant served on the hotel room revealed he had dropped off several condoms, bondage supplies and adult novelty toys, BPD says. The man was booked into Kitsap County Jail and is facing charges of first-degree attempted child molestation and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
