The Bainbridge Island City Council will consider appointing Fred Grimm to a vacant seat on the city’s Harbor Commission at the council’s meeting next week.

The appointment to Position 4 on the advisory body would be for a three-year term starting July 1 and running through June 30, 2018.

Grimm, 74, is a retired orthodontist and has lived on the Bainbridge waterfront for the last 40 years on the point between Little and Big Manzamita bays.

He has a long history of community service. Grimm has been a harbor steward for 15 years, and served on the Bainbridge parks board for nearly a decade during the development of Battle Point Park and the Bainbridge Aquatic Center.

Grimm also served for 10 years on the school board and has been a member of the Bainbridge Island Kiwanis Club since 1971.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 at city hall.
