The Eagle Harbor Sewer Beach Main is well on its way to completion.
The replacement project is expected to be complete by next week, city officials said Friday.
A little more than two miles of force main piping along was replaced this week and connected to several pump stations.
Sewage flow was also diverted to the new pipes.
Coluccio Construction has worked to construct the 2 1/2 miles of new piping over the past few months.
In addition to replacing outdated technology and reducing the likelihood of future sewage spills in Eagle Harbor, the project also includes wetland restoration, trail improvements and creosote removal.
City officials reported that more than 60 creosote logs, six dump trucks of concrete and three dump trucks of iron trash were removed from the beach.
Crews are now on to the restoration portion of the project and are re-establishing trail connections to the beach.
About 200 cubic yards of beach nourishment has also been placed on the shore where creosote was removed.
