SEATTLE – Representing Bainbridge High School, the sibling mixed doubles team of Sam and Molly Alpaugh took home first-place ribbons from the recent Metro League high school all-comers tennis tournament at Lower Woodland Park.
Mallory Browne and Marianne Milander carried home second-place ribbons in girls’ doubles, and siblings Krista and Karlie Pickens earned fourth-place ribbons in the same event.
Fourteen Seattle-area schools participated in the annual tournament.
Also competing for BHS were teammates Morgan Wickline and Cade Topham in mixed doubles; John Tappen, Ben Hauptman and Skyler Lofthus in boys’ singles; Madison Barrett and Katie Hughes, Taylor Petersen and Erin Kempkes, Amanda Brady and Emily Feeney as well as Catherine Rolfes and Lindsay Payne in girls’ doubles; and Kristian Magrini and Andrew Zech, Harrison Shinohara and Ethan Neeleman, and Duncan Wallace and Garbriel Fradkin in boys’ doubles.
BHS contributed the largest high school contingent of players to this years’ tournament. A record number, more than 80 youths, turned out for team tennis back in early March.
