Spartans nearly perfect at boys water polo tourney

AUBURN – The Bainbridge High varsity boys water polo team won two of their three matches in the Auburn Tournament last weekend.

The team showed signifiant tactical improvement from their first two matches of the season, noted BHS Head Coach Jacob Millican.

First, the island team beat their hosts and finished 9-6 over Auburn Riverside.

In the second game, BHS annihilated Peninsula High 14-2.

That win, however, may have lulled them into a false sense of security as they found themselves quickly on the wrong side of a 8-5 final score against Gig Harbor, a game that Millican said they easily should have won.
