It was a scary ending to the week for Central Kitsap students after back-to-back days of threats led to multiple lockdowns and the arrest of one minor.
Students and faculty at Central Kitsap High School and middle school were sent into lockdown the morning of Oct. 21 after some students received a “vague general threat” through AirDrop during the first period, according to an alert sent out from principal Craig Johnson.
He said the threat did not involve a gun, but the district made the move “out of an abundance of caution.”
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office later determined the threat was not credible, and the lockout was lifted around 10:30 a.m.
On Oct. 20, a 17-year-old boy who was not a student there brought a loaded handgun to CKHS. Law enforcement apprehended the juvenile, who has been accused of robbery, according to preliminary findings of the KCSO.
