At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, you’ll witness a crime at the local diner. But before you get lost in apple pie and patty melts served with a side of sinister, you should know that the BPA Theatre School’s Spring Send-Off is also a comedy. So you don’t have to swear off French fries and malted milkshakes forever, in fear of this murder mystery. You’re gonna laugh, possibly cry, and that’s the worst that will happen. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for everyone else, including seniors and military members.

To market, to market, to show a pretty hen. The Bainbridge Island Farmers Market’s annual Poultry Pageant is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. If your chicken’s the cutest, the best inanimate object or fairy tale character, it just might win. Voting is from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with awards at 12:30 p.m. Feathered couture not your thing? Strut your stuff in “Foul Bingo” or the egg toss.

Goodbyes are always difficult. But musical? That’s a novelty. Join departing Bainbridge Performing Arts music director Josh Anderson and friends for a Going Away Spectacular, 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A motley cast of BPA’s finest performers will relive his glory days, from “Shrek” to “Mary Poppins.” Tickets are pay-what-you-can and benefit Anderson’s move to Minneapolis.

Kirk Nordby (BHS ’05) and Nick Motil met at a singer songwriter showcase. Over a bowl of gumbo, the two conspired to busk together at the Baywood-Los Osos Farmers Market. Shortly thereafter, they agreed that two beards were better than one and became Bear Market Riot. On Sunday, they bring their power-folk and four instruments to the Treehouse Café for a 7 p.m., by donation, set.
