Theater expert to host acting classes

Tony Award-winning actress Dinah Manoff will be teaching a series of classes, “The Actor’s Tool Belt,” through Bainbridge Performing Arts this fall.

The classes will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month (with the exception of February 2017, when students will meet on the first Sunday). Classes will be held in the adjacent classroom behind BPA and students are instructed to wear comfortable clothes and bring a lunch.

Offerings include: “The Nuts and Bolts of Acting,” “Constructing a Character,” “Monologues with Muscle,” “Step by Step, Scene Study,” “The Song’s the Thing” and “The Art of Auditioning.”

Manoff has more than 30 years of experience acting, directing and casting. Each one of these six-hour workshops, given once a month over the course of six months beginning in September, will offer a variety of opportunities for personal and professional growth. This series offers a great schedule for those who don’t have time to commit to a weekly class and encompasses a range of instruction from developing basic acting skills to selecting appropriate material for auditions.

Limited to 14 students per class and recommended for ages 16 and older, “The Actor’s Tool Belt,” will be offered at $125 per class or at $100 per class for a package of three or more. (Registrants must contact BPA director of education Liz Ellis at eeliis@bainbridgeperformingarts.org to obtain the package discount.)
