The Bainbridge Spartans beat the Sequim Wolves and North Mason Bulldogs in their first Olympic League track meet of the season March 19 at Bainbridge High School, securing top finishes in most events.

One of the standout performances came from Spartan Ignacio Llorens, who took first in the boys 3200-meter event, beating the second-place finisher by almost three minutes. On the girls side, Cate Torrell won the 100 and 200-meter dash for Bainbridge and was also part of the winning team in the 4×100-meter relay. Torrell set a school record in the 100 meters with a time of 12.35 seconds.

“Ignacio is just a really competitive person, and he’s competitive with himself,” Bainbridge coach Jena Winger said. “So when he sees something that he wants, he’s just really brave and fearless as a racer.”
