Passenger dies in PO crash

The Port Orchard Police Department is looking into a fatal crash in which the driver is suspected of being under the influence.

Officers responded to the crash at Mitchell Avenue and Plisko Lane just before midnight Feb. 5, where they found a single vehicle had collided with a utility pole. Police identified the driver on-scene with the assistance of witnesses. He wouldThe driver was transported to a nearby hospital.

A passenger was discovered a short distance from the wreck. Officers say the passenger was ejected and died of from the injuries.

Both the POPD and the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact either agency.
