$800K grants
Puget Sound Energy Foundation has awarded two Kitsap nonprofits with $800,000 grants.
Housing Resources Bainbridge and Kitsap Community Resources received the grants for their work in preventing and eliminating homelessness.
School board talk
Coffee Talk with Bainbridge Island School Board members starts Feb. 11.
Two board members will be present at each event.
Zoom events are from noon to 1:30 p.m. In-person events are 10-11:30 a.m.

Black History Month
Bainbridge Island School District will honor Black History Month in February.
Lessons to be taught include:
• Honoring Black women, like the NASA mathematicians.
• Researching Black leaders, including civil rights activists, politicians and scientists.
• Celebrating Black musicians like Louis Armstrong.
• Learning about Black innovators, like Benjar Banneker, who built the first clock in America in the 1700s.
Food drive
Sakai Intermediate School is participating in the Coho Community Food Drive to benefit Helpline House.
It ends Feb. 14.
Food donations may be dropped off at school under the canopy at the dropoff-pickup loop.
The Coho program includes community service so all students are encouraged to participate.
Winter One Acts
Winter One Acts plays written, directed, performed and produced by high school students are taking place at Bainbridge High School.
The plays at the new BHS theater will take place Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 12 at 3 and 7 p.m.

Environment survey
The city of Bainbridge Island wants residents to share their visions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Climate Action Workshops will garner feedback, ideas and opinions on how to prepare BI for climate change.
To participate, fill out the application form by 8 p.m. Feb. 15.
Adopt a tree
Stillwaters Environmental Center in Kingston is having an Adopt-A-Tree fundraiser.
It is partnering with Kitsap County Parks and Recreation to plant nearly 100 native saplings in Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park, along with 30 Sitka Spruce seedlings in the Carpenter Creek estuary.
You’ll receive a certificate of adoption with information about what kind of tree it will grow up into and where you can see it in the wild.

New ARNP
Member Plus Family Health, a Bainbridge Island independent concierge medical practice, welcomes Erica Hickson, ARNP, to its medical staff.
Hickson is a board-certified provider who joins the clinic with eight years of experience as a nurse practitioner.
MPFH is located at 123 Bjune Suite 101 and has been serving patients since 2003.
