BAINBRIDGE – A scrappy battle finally saw the Spartans behind 15-11 at the final whistle Friday, April 28, in a home turf contest against the visiting Crusaders from Eastside Catholic.

The loss left the Bainbridge High varsity boys lacrosse team with an overall season record of 9-8 (5-3 in conference).

The Crusaders got on the board first Friday, just minutes into the initial quarter. They pulled ahead by another goal with about four minutes left in the first to lead 2-0.

Bainbridge, though, was unimpressed. By the start of the second, it was a 4-all game.

The guests again pulled ahead at first, leaving the Spartans to play catch-up and lead 9-5 with about four minutes left in the half.

It was a pattern that would continue throughout the match, with the Spartans holding their own but unable to command a lead significant enough to settle in.

Spartans scoring efforts were led by Merritt McMahon, who put up three goals throughout the night.

Ian Morosoff, Max Oden and Avery Port each managed two, and Max McLeod chipped in one.

Dawson Friers and Charlie Shrout each spent 24 minutes in the net. Friers managed three saves in eight shots; Shrout four in 14.

The Spartans next hit the road Tuesday, May 2, to play Lakeside. They remained away Thursday for their match against Seattle Prep, and are slated to complete the season at home with a nonleague match at noon Saturday, May 6 against Juanita.
