Space Craft serves up soul-rock for its Saturday, Nov. 26 show.

First up at Rolling Bay: Lanford Black, who occasionally enjoy recording from sailboats.

The band of brothers (and friend) began in 2012 with Zach Shaw (guitar/vocals) and his twin step-brothers Ben (drums) and Josh Phelps (bass). With soulful melodies and a tight rhythm section, the band started testing their material at Seattle staples like the Tractor Tavern and Conor Byrne.

Two years later, Phelps’ college roomate, Forrest Gilchrist (guitar), joined the band and Lanford Black truly found its stride. Onstage chemistry was a non-issue: these guys love making music together and their energy is infectious. With raw vocals, searing guitar riffs, and an electric live performance, Lanford Black offers an invitation to the dance floor that’s impossible to refuse. The band released its debut EP, “Peppermint,” in 2015.

Stubborn Son is the alter ego to America’s comfort-seeking 9-to-5.

Formed over three-finger pours and stacks of vinyl records, this Seattle trio sits nicely between the visual stylings of the 1960s, sonic infusions of the ’70s and indie rock of today. Their kinetic performances teeter on the edge of euphoric and possessed.

Stubborn Son’s 2015 LP release “Birthright” was recorded to vintage two tape with producer Martin Feveyear (Mudhoney, Kings of Leon). Their latest single, “Blood On My Teeth,” is a tongue-in-cheek response to the pain we sometimes endure to love someone. Frontman Garrett Lamp’s spacious melodies are written as if guitar is secondary to vocals, intentionally thoughtful, sexy and powerful. Blair Daly delivers drum parts with scientific precision and earthy energy. Bassist/keyboardist Andrew Knapp adds to the cocktail a huge dose of tone, propelling the music forward, omnisciently connecting the space between rhythm and melody. This is a band obsessed with intoxicating sounds.
