Best Bets for May 6-8 | THE BAINBRIDGE BLAB

Spring for healthy juice, monks and dominatrix rock. Maybe not all at once.
Verjus is open! Drink up.
It’s that time of the month. Swoon over local art at various venues for the First Friday art walk. Beginning at 6 p.m., Island Gallery shows off whimsical mirrors and Asian screens to the beat of Jon Crane and Abraham Neuwelt’s happy drums. Bainbridge Arts & Crafts debuts Lynnette Sandbloom’s stitched-paper houses and hand-fired orbs from Garrison Coverdale.
The ladies of Thunderpussy deliver frisky rock ’n’ roll in blinged-out bras, fishnet tights – and, one-time, nothing but a little paint and a raccoon-tailed jock strap. Sundries, on the other hand, is a little more subdued. They call their sound “bold and brooding PNW grunge.” Cheer on BHS grad Leah Julius, bassist for the former and drummer for the latter, Friday at 8 p.m. Tickets for the Rolling Bay Hall doubleheader here.
For a zen moment on Saturday, head to BIMA. Buddhist monks from Gaden Shartse Monastic College in India have been creating an intricate sand mandala all week. At 3 p.m., they’ll bless the grains and pour them back into the ocean to symbolize life’s impermanence.
