BI gymnasts win at state meet

SILVERDALE – Two Bainbridge Island gymnasts competed for Olympic Gymnastics Center in Silverdale at the Washington Optional State Championships.

The championships were held in Auburn on March 18-20.

Elyse Lipton (age 10) finished in 17th place for the Level 7 all around with a score of 36.3, and placed 12th on bars and 13th on beam.

The Olympic Gymnastics Center Level 7 team came in fifth place overall.

Chelsea Hallinan (age 10) claimed third place for the Level 8 all around with a score of 37.75; she also placed third on bars and beam, seventh on vault and eighth on floor.

The OGC Level 8 team was seventh overall.

Hallinan also competed at the Level 8, 9 and 10 Region 2 Gymnastics Championships in Pullman on April 3.
