Bainbridge boys squeak to 7th win

MERCER ISLAND – The Bainbridge High boys lacrosse team barely edged its way to a 13-12 win against Hellgate Sunday, April 3 at Mercer Island High School.

The non-league win was a bit of a comeback for the island squad, coming on the heels of the team’s sole loss so far this year to Issaquah the day before.

The rebound victory left the Spartans with a 7-1 overall season record (3-0 in conference) and tied for the top spot in the Metro Division I standings with Eastside Catholic and Seattle Preparatory. Lakeside has the fourth-place spot on lockdown with a 3-1 conference record.

Against Hellgate, BHS goalie Charlie Shrout managed five saves for 12 shots — about a 29 percent average.

Offensively, the Spartans were again led by perennial points powerhouse Ben Biggers, who ended the night with five goals.

Sal Iaria put up three, and Jack Frickelton, Nate Marx, Max Oden, Lucas Pedersen and Devon Turner each chipped in one for BHS.
