Poetry Corners returns to Island

They’ve infiltrated a barber shop, a real estate firm and San Carlos. There’s one holed up at the Best Western, another living large among Gilbert Thomes diamonds and at Danger, a third, going by the nickname “The Nemesis,” lies in wait.
They demand to be heard; they want to have a word.
They’re poems.
As part of National Poetry Month, volunteers from Arts & Humanities Bainbridge have plastered downtown with nature-themed verse by 47 local writers. The works, which will be posted through April, were selected through a juried process, with poets challenged to explore sensations and memories evoked by the natural world in collaboration with Earth Art Bainbridge.

A live reading will be held at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art on Thursday, April 28.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a no-host bar and light fare from the museum bistro. Readings follow at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is a suggested donation of $5.
A chapbook with this year’s winning poems will go on sale at the event and will be available through local venues including Eagle Harbor Book Company.
