Bainbridge Island has received 40 applications from people interested in taking over as director of the city’s planning department.
The city has been looking for a new planning director since Kathy Cook announced her resignation late last year.
Cook’s final day on the job was last week.
City Manager Doug Schulze said the city met with its consultant search team last week to go through the applications. Fifteen applicants are from Washington state, he said.
Semifinalists have been asked to complete a set of questions and will also undergo an online interview.
Schulze said the semifinalists will be narrowed down to four to six candidates, who will then be interviewed by three panels set up by the city made up of city managers, members of the public and others.
