Two more Spartans qualify for state 3A swimming championships

Bainbridge handily defeated Garfield in boys varsity swimming and diving late last week, winning at home 104-63, but the real waves at the Spartans’ final home meet of 2015 were made by Makai Ingalls and Garrett Waite.
The two Spartans raced to state qualifying times in the 100-yard freestyle and will join the growing roster of Bainbridge swimmers who will compete in the 3A boys swimming and diving championships Feb. 19-20 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Ingalls won the 100 free with a time of 48.81, a slight — but big enough — improvement over his seed time of 49.74.
Teammate Waite was second in the race, and finished in 49.19.
A time of 49.50 is needed to advance to state.
The Spartans dominated in the Dec. 18 meet at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center. BHS won eight of 12 events, and posted first- and second-place finishes in six races.
Bainbridge swimmers will return to their home pool on Friday, Jan. 8 to host Chief Sealth and West Seattle.
