Bainbridge swim club finishes third

FEDERAL WAY – The Bainbridge Island Swim Club finished third behind King Aquatic Club and Bellevue Club Swim Team at the Pacific Northwest Swimming’s 14 & Under Short Course Championships.

The Bainbridge club sent a team of 39 swimmers to compete in individual and relay events at the championships, held Dec. 11-13 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

More than 40 teams and 850 swimmers competed at the meet. Several Bainbridge Island Swim Club swimmers set new team records, and Garrett Waite set a new Pacific Northwest Swimming record in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:52.19.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jude Wenker, Garrett Waite, Aidan Wagner and Makai Ingalls, and the 200-yard medley relay team of Garrett Waite, Kevin Houseman, Jude Wenker and Makai Ingalls also both set new Pacific Northwest Swimming records. BISC swimmers finishing in the top eight included:

Girls 10 & Under:

Alexa Fiore: Eighth place, 100-yard individual medley

Girls 11-12:

Margaret Hayes: Second place, 500-yard freestyle; fourth place, 100-yard backstroke; third place, 200-yard backstroke; second place, 50-yard butterfly; fourth place, 100 IM; third place, 400-yard IM

Amelia Kimball: Eighth place, 100-yard breaststroke

Girls 13-14:

Eleanor Beers: First place, 50 freestyle; second place, 100 freestyle; fifth place, 200 freestyle; fifth place, 100 butterfly; third place, 200 butterfly

Boys 11-12:

Collin Bushey: Eighth place, 50 backstroke

Ian Lipton: Eighth place, 200 freestyle; sixth place, 500 freestyle; sixth place, 1650-yard freestyle; fourth place, 50 backstroke; sixth place, 100 backstroke; third place, 200 backstroke

Boys 13-14:

Kevin Houseman: Fifth place, 100 backstroke; eighth place, 200 backstroke; third place, 100 breaststroke; fourth place, 200 breaststroke; eighth place, 200 IM

Makai Ingalls: First place, 50 freestyle; first place, 100 freestyle; fourth place, 200 freestyle; second place, 100 backstroke; first place, 100 butterfly; fourth place, 200 IM

Aron Markow: Sixth place, 100 breaststroke

John Velisaris: Sixth place, 100 backstroke; fifth place, 200 backstroke

Garrett Waite: First place, 100 backstroke; first place, 200 backstroke; third place, 100 butterfly; first place, 200 butterfly; second place, 200 IM; third place, 400 IM
