The week in Spartan sports begins with the Bainbridge boys basketball teams facing a familiar foe from the other side of the bridge: the North Kitsap Vikings.
The Vikings visit the island Monday, Nov. 30 for a much anticipated first meeting between former Spartan coach Scott Orness — now head of the NK squad — and new BHS Head Coach Steve Haizlip.
The varsity game gets underway at 7 p.m. in Paski Gymnasium. The junior varsity team tips off at 5:15 p.m. in the main gym, and the C Team also plays the Vikings at 5:15 p.m. in the Commodore gym.
On Tuesday, Dec. 1, the boys C Team welcomes Olympic for a 5:15 p.m. game in the Commodore gym.
On Wednesday, Dec. 2, the Spartan wrestling team takes to the mat for their first meet, a double duel competition at Bishop Blanchet with Blanchet and Ballard.
JV action starts at 4 p.m.
Varsity wrestling against the Braves starts at 6, followed by the Beavers at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 3, the Spartan girls basketball teams travel to Port Angeles for a non-conference game against the Rough Riders. The JV game starts at 5:15, followed by the varsity matchup at 7 p.m.
On Friday, Dec. 4, the Spartan boys swim and dive team will compete in their first meet of the season Friday, also against Eastside Catholic, at Helene Madison Pool in Seattle. The first race is at 3:30 p.m.
Also Friday, the Spartan gymnastics team heads to Ballard for a meet with Ballard/Chief Sealth/Holy Names. The meet starts at 6 p.m.
This week in Spartan sports comes to a finish Saturday, Dec. 5, with the boys C Team playing on the road at Olympic (2 p.m. start) and the varsity squad heading to the Tipoff Classic at Auburn Riverside. The Spartans will play Emerald Ridge at 3:30 p.m,.
