Clay Jenkinson, one of the most sought-after humanities scholars in the nation, will portray Teddy “That Damn Cowboy” Roosevelt in an entertaining and thought-provoking one-night-only program at the Bainbridge Island Historical Museum at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17.

Best known for his award-winning historical impersonation of Thomas Jefferson and his National Public Radio “Jefferson Hour” show, Jenkinson, who first performed as Jefferson last year in a sold out Bainbridge Island Historical Museum event, will be performing in the Chautauqua method, which Roosevelt himself supposedly called “the most American thing in America.”

Chautauqua was an adult education movement prominent in the U.S. throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries which consisted of assemblies which combined entertainment and culture appropriate for the entire community, often including guest speakers and various specialist lecturers.

The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments before the show begins. Tickets are on sale now. The cost is $125 per person. Visit www.bainbridgehistory.org to purchase and to learn more.
